Field Journal The San Francisco Peaks are home to the Kachinas, the spirit world of the Native Peoples. Lockett Meadow is a large meadow vortex centered within the mountains. Surrounded by Aspen trees, the meadow rests at an elevation of approximately 9,500 feet. Water springs forth into two small ponds. We visited Lockett Meadow August 23, 2001. On the way up the road we saw a large doe laying in a tucked-in place near the road. Our greeting from the deer spirit was a blessing. The spring ponds teemed with dragonflies. We spent two hours playing and visiting with the water on a sunny summer day. We took many photos. Due to a camera malfunction, the film was destroyed in the rewinding. When we realized the film from Lockett Meadow was ruined, Chris and I knew it meant we had to return. So we put it to our Higher Guidance to inform and instruct us on the matter. One day in October while running at Buffalo Park in Flagstaff, I felt a wind pick up from the mountains, and with it came the knowledge that the Kachinas were returning to the Peaks on the winds. I was guided to the knowledge that the reason the film was ruined was so the Kachinas could be present at another water blessing. I invited them to instruct on the appropriate day and time. I was given to understand that our friend David should be invited, who was due to arrive in November. Our return was November 16, 2001. On this day Drunvalo Melchizedek and Tom Kenyon hosted a World Peace Meditation on WorldPuja.org. We connected into the Christ Consciousness Grid during the morning meditation and held energy for Peace all that day. The feeling of connectedness during that day was profound. We chose to go to Lockett Meadow in the late afternoon with the feeling that it was a powerful day to honor and bring in the Kachina energy. I had a knowing of an agreement to connect the area with the water & rain devas. This was a gift for Mother Earth. As we drove up the road to the meadow, I called forth the deer people to join me. When we arrived Chris and I drummed greetings to the Kachinas and called them to play with us. David carried a Tibetan bell. It's tone filled the meadow bowl. While inserting light and prayers into the water, I felt a strong Kachina presence. The water was clean and pure. It is the cleanest water I have encountered. The devic presence in the area was obvious all around. David toned sounds from the Angelic choir. Before we left the meadow, I decided to play a little with the Kachinas. I called out to them for running friends, and the deer people, and began to run. It was almost dark. I could see where I was going but not into the woods alongside the road. I ran like the wind until, about a mile into the run, my right foot hit a stone and my ankle twisted. As I rebounded from the twist, I heard the word "mountain lion". I stopped, and felt into the woods. I turned around and ran back, all the while feeling out to see if I was being stalked. I had a strong feeling that I was safe, at peace with the life and environment around me, and had passed a Kachina test.
