Blessing for the Waters Ceremony

Dear Water Wizards,

We begin our 11th year of praying with water. Wow!
My prayer is that 2012 will be the year of our awakening.
May this be the year that love of water brings the peoples
of the world together.

January 23, 2012 is the New Moon.

Following the links below will introduce you to a story of epic proportions.  If you are willing to explore the information on the Athabasca River of Canada, you will experience many emotions.
This story is one that will linger in the news throughout the year, because it is politicized.

You may have heard or seen information on the XL Pipeline.
This is a pipeline proposed by the Canadian oil company, TransCanada.  The pipeline project was rejected by the Obama administration this week.  However, TransCanada plans to reapply for a permit to build a pipeline from northern Canada to the Gulf coast of Texas.  The American media frames the pipeline story as a jobs issue.  In my opinion, this is a smokescreen to keep people from understanding the real story.  The oil that would travel in the pipeline is called Tar Sands Oil.  The real issue here is what tar sands mining is doing to the environment.  If you look in to the information I have found, you will be better informed to discuss this among friends and associates.  You will be able to intelligently communicate the question of whether any job is worth what we are doing to the Earth.
